February Library Lessons
Grades K-2:
Students made and received Valentines for another student in the district.
They also started learning how to type.
Grades 3-5:
Students have been working hard to complete their final projects on their State (Grade 3) or Country (Grades 4-5). Students were able to chose a Google Slide or Brochure format to show their knowledge about their topic. Both were completed digitally to practice Google for Education tools.
Next students will learn how to cite website sources as well as plagiarism and why citations are important. Students will be able to give a quick presentation the following week about what they learned about their state or country.

Read Across America Week!
The first week of March is Read Across America (RAA)! What is RAA? RAA was first launched in 1998 by the NEA and a committee of educators to focus on motivating children and teens to read all year long with a big celebration around Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2nd. During this week there are some celebrations! Flyers were sent home last Friday.

Library Reminders
1. Kindergarten and Grade 1 Students should have received a Ziploc bag with their name on it as their "Library Bag". Please keep the book in the Library Bag when your child is not reading it to help keep it safe.
2. Even though students in grades Kindergarten and second are holding onto their library books for two weeks at a time, we are still practicing "normal" returning procedure. Students will be asked to show me their books each week, whether they are returning them or not. It is good practice to return their library book to their backpack each time they are finished reading it.
3. All students should be keeping their books in their backpacks for safe keeping.
4. All students will receive a bookmark on check out day to remind them when their book was checked out and when it needs to return to school. Please keep this bookmark in your child's book.
